Hi all,
sorry its been a while...mad busy and then a summer holiday!

Anyway, a piece of software that I have been using on and off for a while, as and when needed, is JPEGSNOOP

http://www.impulseadventure.com/photo/jpeg-snoop-uses.html

To cut a long story short (usually very difficult for me!)..

Had an avi recorded with mjpeg.
Gspot stated codec ok and gave a size of 720 x 544.
Nothing unusual in Display aspect ratio or Picture aspect ratio.

(there was some issues re the time but thats another story!)

Couldn't get the footage to play at all in a standard setup.

Opened it up in jpegsnoop by selecting avi as the input type and then selected find first image - voila!

jpeg of 720 x 272
all image details provided including all compression details.

In the end I used a linux distro (Ubuntu)to view the file and here it displayed at the correctly display of 720x272.

Another one for the toolbox!

I like the idea of this...all of your AV equipment connected via standard CAT5e cable.

Sounds Good?

I frequently get asked by friends and family about how to protect their PC or what software they should use to improve performance.  I've posted about some of the free software tools I use on my home PCs for this in the past, mentioning CCleaner, Advanced System Care, and other freeware tools...and I always recommend they be used in conjunction with a good anti-virus program and software firewall, of course.

HP have a released a washable hermetically sealed keyboard especially for all those people that have knocked a drink over and ruined a perfectly good keyboard although the website says that it was designed for hygiene and other reasons. Personally I think a product designer at HP ruined one too many keyboards and came up with this. :)

Today is the big day, the CS5 launch event extravaganza on Adobe.com. Lots of cool stuff on CS5 available on the Adobe site and Adobe TV...too much to list so go check it out.

Another jem from the Photoshop Jedi Master Deke McClelland. Think a discussion on Photoshop's Image Size tool is too basic for you? Fear for you I do, for that is the mindset of someone leaning toward the dark side.
